Greeters are the FIRST connection for the women as they arrive at His Way. Make sure the women are warmly welcomed, hugged and blessed as they come through the doors. Assist the Welcome Ministry by ensuring there are Welcome Bags ready for our first-time visitors, sign-in sheets are ready for those “manning” the interior door…

Resources are one of the most valuable parts of our ministry. If you have a “passion” to see valuable tools put into the hands of women, then this is the place for you! You will assist ladies with purchases, taking money, making change, etc.

Youth groups, churches, business and service organizations, or individuals can host events and donate the proceeds to Austin’s House. Some examples of past events include: bake sales, car washes, ice cream socials, sidewalk business events, raffles, garage sales, fashion show, craft fairs, poker run, and children’s birthday parties.

We are always on the lookout for motivated community members to become a part of our Board of Directors. The Board consists of individuals from many different backgrounds and experiences, which helps us move towards our goal of supporting and maintaining Austin’s House and its vision.

Like any home, Austin’s House needs maintenance of our lawn, backyard, and house. If you or your organization would like to donate muscle power for maintenance services, please call and speak with us.

Volunteers lend helping hands during special events. You can help with the planning, help us set up or take down, lead an activity, greet guest or more! Besides being great fun, these events are critical for the community contact and fundraising capabilities of Urban Roots.

Do you have group interested in helping Urban Roots to maintain a school garden? We’ll provide training and be on hand to help get you started. Help a school keep their garden sustainable!

Want to get more involved than the drop in days allow? Volunteers help with the upkeep at the Urban Teaching Farm at Renown on the corner of 2nd and Gould. You will work with Urban Roots staff to maintain hoop houses, landscaping, irrigation, planting, or harvesting. Have a carpentry background? Know a lot of vermicompost?…
