Ways to help | Conditional Court Ordered ServiceCourt Ordered Service is available on a conditional basis. Contact us for more details.Office VolunteerOpportunities to help in the office include assisting with the sorting and distribution of in-kind donations, which includes supplying clothing to shelter residents and their children, responding to phone inquires or walk-in visitors; collecting and processing in-kind donations; assisting with general administrative functions, and troubleshooting problems and helping develop automated approaches to existing systems.Community Development and EducationAssist the S.A.F.E. House by representing or assisting with the agency at domestic violence awareness events or fundraising events at various community venues, helping with special events and fundraisers, and assisting in data entry and special projects.AdvocacyOpportunities to assist with advocacy include accompanying clients in court on general proceedings, protective orders, child custody, divorce, and criminal cases or accompanying clients in mediation sessions.Emergency ShelterThere are several opportunities to assist at the emergency shelter such as assisting in the Child Learning Center working with children on art and nurturing projects, tutoring children on English or Math, assisting with Hotline crisis calls, preliminary in-take of new clients, and general shelter upkeep, assisting staff with weekly shopping, or retrieving donations from donors, and assist with the operation of the shelter boutique. |

About us | S.A.F.E. House was established in 1994 by a group of community leaders concerned about the needs of battered women and their children. With strong community support, the organization opened a domestic violence shelter that supports over 600 women and children a year and a Counseling and Advocacy Center that assists over 4,000 people a year. Today, S.A.F.E. House provides a comprehensive approach to end Domestic Violence/ Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and abuse in the family through safe shelter, counseling, advocacy, and community education. |
