The Embracing Project
Ways to help | Angel MentorTime commitment: 5-8 hours / week. Angel mentoring is an intense, one-on-one trauma-informed mentoring service for girls and LGBTQ+ youth ages 12-18 who are identified as survivors of sexual assault, sexual abuse, molestation, intimate partner violence (IPV), and stalking, whose primary goal is to restore recipients to the highest level of functioning through trauma-healing, self-love, empowerment, resiliency, and support. The program is based on strengths and empowerment perspectives, with all mentors trained in a trauma informed approach. *All volunteer applicants are required to contribute a one-time donation of $50 when submitting their application. The donation does not guarantee selection for a volunteer position.Outreach VolunteerTime commitment: 10-15 hours / month. Help spread the word about the services provided by TEP. *All volunteer applicants are required to contribute a one-time donation of $50 when submitting their application. The donation does not guarantee selection for a volunteer position.Group Facilitator for Girls CircleTime commitment: 3-6 hours / week (mostly Fridays and Saturdays). Girls Circle is a group mentorship service for participants ages 12-18 who are presenting behavioral problems such as anger, aggression, educational deficit and truancy, poor self-esteem and self-image, poor decision-making, difficulty effectively solving a problem, authority and/or family conflict, criminal and/or negative peers, habitual runaways, impulse control disorder and oppositional defiance disorder; in addition to those experiencing domestic violence in the home. *All volunteer applicants are required to contribute a one-time donation of $50 when submitting their application. The donation does not guarantee selection for a volunteer position.Admin AssistantTime commitment: 2-4 hours / week. Help make sure our organization is running efficiently and effectively. *All volunteer applicants are required to contribute a one-time donation of $50 when submitting their application. Our volunteers lend their time and talents in a variety of ways including serving as mentors, completing administrative tasks and assisting at community outreach events. |
