Description

The Friends of Nevada Wilderness Summer Conservation Program Assistant will inspire interest, appreciation and stewardship of public lands across Nevada. The member will also assist in planning stewardship projects including, improving and maintaining back-country trails, treating areas for noxious weeds, fire restoration projects and improving riparian habitats. The member will help with outreach event planning and coordination, communications and media and data entry.

Activity types

Member will serve a 300 hours term. Assist and lead a variety of stewardship projects throughout Nevada, mostly in back-country settings, manage volunteers in remote locations throughout Nevada, identify outreach opportunities, participate in volunteer recruitment activities such as tabling at community events, give presentations about Friends of Nevada Wilderness and current volunteer opportunities to community events, clubs and organizations, prepare and distribute press releases and media packages regarding stewardship opportunities and events to media outlets, learn all aspects of volunteer communication, assist in educational presentations in classrooms and outdoor schools throughout the community. Distribute and maintain posters and fliers about FNW stewardship projects throughout the community, update volunteer and media contacts in database, name, edit and store photos from stewardship program trips and events, provide photos and written content for FNW email and newsletters.
