Ways to help

COMMUNITY Volunteers

We encourage corporations and community organizations to bring groups of two to 12 volunteers to engage young people in science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities on the museum floor. We offer half-day (4-hour) or full-day (7-hour) activities with no experience or training necessary. Often community volunteers are asked to help facilitate programming, work one-on-one with students and parents to reinforce museum educational goals and objects, prepare materials for future programs, or greet guests as they enter the museum. Additionally, we can work with organizations to develop and facilitate special programming that serves the unique mission of the organizations and the museum (i.e. water sustainability, financial literacy).

TEEN Volunteers

Teen volunteers, 14 to 17 years of age, help bring the museum alive for visitors and are given a chance to receive one-on-one coaching from our experience staff members. They assist in sparking curiosity and igniting a love of lifelong learning by interpreting exhibits for school groups and/or families, facilitating arts and science activities, and assisting with the exhibits departments or special events. All that is required is an interest in supporting our mission and spending time with visitors young and old. Schedules are flexible as to work around school schedules and no experience is necessary.

About usMore than 2.2 million children and adults visited the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum. The new museum helps redefine Las Vegas as a city that values culture and the arts, an urban lifestyle, and, most importantly, its children. Three stories tall in stature, the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum 58,000-square-foot building is home to nine-themed exhibition halls totaling 26,000 square feet of interactive hands-on core exhibits. The 5,000 square foot Featured Exhibitions Gallery is large enough to accommodate major exhibits from the nation’s leading museums.
