Court Appointed Special Advocate

CASA volunteers get to know the child and speak to everyone involved in the child’s life, including their family members, teachers, attorneys, social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, and others, who are knowledgeable about the child’s history and/or current situation. The CASA volunteer may also review school records, social worker reports and other relevant documents pertaining to the child (ren).

How you helpIf you have about 10 hours a month, you could make a huge impact in the life of an abused or neglected child, and help change that child's story. By becoming a CASA volunteer, you are able to advocate for the child best interest, in and out of court.Visit out website to learn more about what is required to become a CASA volunteer. You can also help us spread the word about the need for more CASA volunteers, by connecting us with individuals/groups/ organizations and/or places of business, that are willing to allow us to do a CASA presentation to their members.
About usOn or about June 1980, under the leadership of the Honorable John Mendoza, the CASA program of Las Vegas was established with the support of the women from the Junior League of Las Vegas. From 1980 to 2022, the CASA Program has grown from 15 to 400 trained volunteers. The overall goal of the CASA Program is to recruit, screen, train and support CASA volunteers. These volunteers become Officers of the Court and are appointed by a Judge to advocate for the best interest of abused or neglected children, through an independent assessment of the case facts and getting to know all parties involved on the case, especially the children. The primary focus of the CASA volunteer is best interest advocacy.
