Board Treasurer

Our missionTo engage, empower, enrich, and advance the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, allies and queer community of Henderson, NV by providing a safe space, pursue resources and providing courses focus on educational, social, support, skill building and job assistance classes for at-risk, low-income LGBTQ youth and adults.
Our boardA treasurer should have a strong working knowledge of accounting. They typically prepare financial reports for each meeting that include information about the company's viability and stability. These reports need to be clear and concise to help inform any of the board's decisions. Treasurers also manage public funds, which includes making important decisions regarding spending and investing. They work closely with other company executives to obtain drafts of the annual budget for board approval.

RequirementsAs part of my responsibilities as a board member:• I will interpret the organization's work and values to the community, represent the organization, and act as a spokesperson.• I will attend at least 75% of board meetings, committee meetings, and special events.• I will actively participate in one or more fundraising activities.• I will act in the best interests of the organization, and excuse myself from discussions and votes where I have a conflict of interest.• I will stay informed about what's going on in the organization. I will ask questions and request information.• I will participate in and take responsibility for making decisions on issues, policies and other board matters.• I will work in good faith with staff and other board members as partners towards achievement of our goals.• If I don't fulfill these commitments to the organization, I will expect the board president to call me and discuss my responsibilities with me.
