Volunteers will create meaningful experiences with children and families by exploring the process of invention. They may even create something completely new with the tools and materials provided in this hands-on open classroom.

The Discovery offers customized, staff-level internships to qualified college students and recent graduates. Internships at The Discovery are unpaid, but the experience is well worth your time. You are placed with enthusiastic mentors, who will help you develop future job skills and discover the inner workings of a world-class, hands-on science museum.

Organizations and groups are an essential part of The Discovery’s volunteer team. Group volunteer projects are a great way to make a big impact in a short amount of time at here at the museum. We offer both ongoing and one-time projects for highly engaged groups and their interests.

Volunteers enable the children and adults to talk about the things they can’t talk about at school or with peers. It is the volunteers in each group that provide safety for the children and families to share their grief. Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve.

We would love to have your help out at the butterfly house. Opportunities also include raising plants as caterpillar food or pollinator plants, helping us maintain the butterfly house and gardens, or helping lead group events.

Please help us provide clothing, food and other supplies for students: Join us for one hour, two hours or more to pack school orders and sort and fold clothing for Betty’s clothing showroom. Anytime between 9 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday.

Enhance your communities’ knowledge about their parks and open spaces! Become a parks biodiversity and/or history researcher and contribute to the Parks Project’s comprehensive database.
