Notice of Funding Opportunity
Nevada Operation AmeriCorps
RENO | LAS VEGAS, December 5, 2014 — Nevada Volunteers is pleased to announce the availability of federal funding in the form of Operation AmeriCorps program grants.
Operation AmeriCorps is a new program created by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to use national service as the transformative catalyst to address a community’s most pressing local challenge. Through Operation AmeriCorps tribal and local leaders (a mayor or other chief executive) will identify a high priority local challenge which AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps NCCC and/or AmeriCorps VISTA members can holistically address in a relatively short period of time (no more than two years). The solution may be a new initiative, or it may use national service to scale up an existing successful effort. In either case any combination of AmeriCorps State, AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps NCCC programs and their associated members must be the additive ingredient to achieve holistic change at the local level.
This competition is open exclusively to tribal governments; local governments of U.S. cities, counties or towns; school boards; state service commissions; and quasi-governmental organizations such as Councils of Governments and non-profit regional development authorities including park, housing, or economic development authorities may apply.
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a concept paper for funding consideration
