Notice of Funding Opportunity—Special Formula Planning AmeriCorps

RENO|LAS VEGAS, December 21, 2016 – Nevada Volunteers is pleased to announce the availability of federal funding in the form of planning grants to organizations looking to develop AmeriCorps programs. The special funds are open to NEW applicants at the following types of organizations: Faith-based and other community organizations, institutions of higher education, government entities within states or territories, Indian tribes, labor organizations, partnerships or consortia and intermediaries planning to sub-grant funds.

“We are excited to set aside funding and support organizations to develop their internal capacity so they will be able to apply for and effectively run an AmeriCorps program in the future.” said Amber Marin-Jahn, the Executive Director at Nevada Volunteers.

Planning grants provide initial funding of up to $75,000 to support current staff or hire additional staff to plan a proposed AmeriCorps program, negotiate collaborations with partners, develop meaningful performance measures, and develop systems for successful implementation of the AmeriCorps operational grant application submitted for the following grant year. Planning grants do not provide AmeriCorps members to nonprofit organizations. This funding is available to be granted for ONE YEAR only. There is no guarantee that allocations will be available to fund future years although Nevada Volunteers expects that agencies receiving planning grants will apply for an AmeriCorps operational grant for the 2018-2019 grant year.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit an application for funding consideration.
