Meet a Member Monday!

Meet Diane
My favorite part of volunteering at ALLV are the other volunteers! I have met such wonderful and inspirational friends at ALLV. During the pandemic I have tried to keep in touch and let them know I am thinking of them. This was such a rough year, I wanted my friends to know that I was supporting them, and they were supporting me! Countless hours were spent on the phone trying to get through this and we have so far!

I joined ALLV to become part of something I thought was special. And it is! The programs we do are so beneficial to the community! When I think of the many children who have been clothed by our organization it takes my breath away. I joined in 2015, six months after I retired. I taught in the Clark County School District for 30 years. I taught Blind and Visually Impaired for most of my career. I am an avid quilter, I needlepoint, and I knit. During my life I have lived in many unique places. I was born in Okinawa and lived in Tehran, Iran for 3 years in the 1970’s. This was an eye opener! I think everyone should experience a different culture, as it makes you so appreciative of what you have. I have been married for 37 years to my wonderful husband Dan. We are blessed with two amazing children, Ryan (who followed in my footsteps and became a teacher) and Katie (who is an Occupational Therapist).
