How you helpWe can count on TIP volunteers to support our citizens in their time of need. The TIP volunteers provide our community with much needed support until our citizens are able to depend upon their family, friends, and others. Their work is invaluable to this community and our police department. Annually, TIP volunteers give over 29,000 hours of service to Washoe County. Our volunteers have responded to major incidents such as the Reno Air Races crash, Caughlin & Washoe fires, IHOP shooting, and the Sparks Middle School shooting. However, our volunteers are most often providing support following those daily disasters. The ones you don’t hear about on the news or read in the paper.
About usTrauma Intervention Programs (TIP) is a national voluntary non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that those who are emotionally traumatized in emergency situations receive the assistance they need. To accomplish that goal, TIP Inc. works closely with local communities to establish emergency services volunteer programs. In these programs, well-trained citizen volunteers are called to emergency scenes to assist family members, witnesses, and other bystanders whom the emergency system often must leave behind.
