Technical and Production volunteers

Our incredible productions are brought to the stage with the amazing power of volunteers working behind the scenes. Our technical volunteers help our designers construct jaw-dropping sets, construct beautiful costumes, and sometimes provide support during shows for set changes. Our stellar team of stage managers are also volunteers.

Concessions

Want to be the life of the party at an RLT performance? We’re always looking for volunteers 21 years or older to sell drinks and snacks to our patrons. Concessions volunteers must obtain an alcohol handler’s card through the Alcohol Awareness Training Course at www.aatnv.com. The best part is, once you’ve volunteered with us we’ll reimburse the $15 license fee!

Play Discovery Committee

The newly formed Discovery Committee welcomes members from all walks of life – no experience or theater background necessary! Read plays that interest you from a provided list or bring in your own suggestions, then tell us if you liked the play or not. The recommended plays will receive serious consideration for production for future seasons. Members are welcome to read a couple of scripts or dozens – either way, your feedback will be put to good use! The committee will have an open meeting every other month, all year round. When you are able attend meetings, we’ll enjoy snacks as a group and share what we loved and despised in a social setting. When you cannot attend, just email the Discovery Committee Chairperson your script evaluations. Great way to meet other theater lovers, explore new plays, and make a difference in RLT planning!

Usher and Box Office Volunteer

Join our team of ushers and box office volunteers. The folks that greet you at the box office and the door of the theater have a reason to be smiling – they get to see that evening’s show for free! You decide which night you want to volunteer, then, when we close the doors, head to the seats reserved for volunteers to enjoy the show.

How you helpSince 1935, Reno Little Theater has staged over 2,750 performances of more than 500 shows. We estimate that more than 6,000 different people have helped at Reno Little Theater, averaging 90 hours per show per volunteer (that’s over 540,000 hours!). It is our family of volunteers that keep the organization running smoothly. They greet theater patrons as ushers and box office personnel, mail newsletters, work on publicity and fundraising, build the scenery, costumes, and props, and operate the light and sound boards. All of our actors, actresses, stage crews, and directors are volunteers. We treasure our volunteers and each of the special talents each person brings to RLT.
About usStarted in 1935, Reno Little Theater provides a setting for people of all backgrounds to participate in and learn about live theater. Reno Little Theater produces six plays during a season that runs from September until June, and has recently added a 7th children's show for Artown.
