| Our mission | Least Resistance Training Concepts (LRTC) is a non-profit corporation for the purpose of researching and sharing humane and effective techniques for gentling and training horses, mules and donkeys. While one of LRTC's primary focal points is to improve the quality of life for adopted wild horses and burros by providing practical training information and free mentoring assistance, our intended beneficiaries include all horses, regardless of origin, as well as their owners. |

| Ways to help | Wild Horse MentorProvide peer support and guidance for new wild horse adopters. For safety reasons, some hands-on activities involving ungentled animals require prior experience or participation in LRTC or state recognized training programs to qualify.Emergency Transportation and/or Foster CareProvide "emergency" transportation for adoption turnbacks and for Virginia Range horses needing movement from state corrals to Foster Care facilities. Provide accommodations for horses recovered from problem adoptions and Virginia Range wild horses waiting to be adopted.Volunteer for Specific ProjectsWe continually get involved in wild horse related projects. Be a part of one!Assist with Workshops and ClinicsThe workshops have many jobs that need to be filled. For safety reasons, some hands-on activities involving ungentled animals require prior experience or participation in LRTC or state recognized training programs to qualify.Qualify for the Mounted Range Rescue Team/Technical Large Animal RescueQualify as a Search and Rescue or Range Rescue mounted responder. Qualify to respond to technical large animal emergencies involving free-roaming horses and domestic livestock.Assist with AdoptionsVolunteer at adoptions, assist with compliance checks, help promote adoptions.Serve on CommitteesWork with one of several standing committees that steer educational programs, the Virginia Range Adoption Program, fund raising, etc. |

| How you help | LRTC is one of a few "full spectrum" wild horse advocacy groups that has undertaken a variety of missions including general advocacy, educating the public, facilitating adoptions, mentoring new adopters, responding to horse emergencies, conducting range rescues, rehabilitating injured and orphaned horses and more. Because of this there are many different functional areas that interested volunteers can participate in and/or support. |

| About us | The Wild Horse Mentors project was established to develop a corps of wild horse enthusiasts who could help new wild horse and burro adopters by sharing their skills and knowledge, or who could assess situations and make referrals so that adopters can find the help that they need. As the concept matured, a non-profit corporation called Least Resistance Training Concepts (LRTC) was formed to administer the Wild Horse Mentors, become a legal Volunteer Service Organization for Bureau of Land Management (BLM) adoption programs and range projects, and is a facilitator for wild horse and burro adoptions for several agencies. In addition LRTC provides a certified Technical Large Animal Rescue team for the region's wild and domestic horses. |
