| About us | Lake Tahoe Shining Stars is an outreach program that offers children from the South Shore the opportunity to study dance and performing arts in an environment that is committed to excellence in arts education, family, and community. Lake Tahoe Shining Stars program is offered through the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio which has offered classes to children for over 30 years and has included children who are considered “at risk” and those whose families need assistance since the studio opened. The Shining Stars participate in multiple performance opportunities in a variety of venues in the community and there is continuing feedback that the program has made a difference in academics, behavior, work ethic and attitude in addition to technical skills. As students grow up through the program, they often become assistant teachers and recognized as role models. Former outreach students who are attending college and participating in dance companies, come back as guest teachers to share their love of dance and donate their time. |
