Board Member

Our missionTo be the leading advocate in promoting the eradication of domestic violence by providing confidential assistance including shelter, food, clothing, counseling, education, and other services to individuals experiencing domestic violence while maintaining the highest respect and dignity for our clients.
Our boardTo provide assistance to victims, batterers, and children affected by domestic violence, and to pursue eradication of domestic violence through any legal means possible. Domestic violence includes, but is not limited to, physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, and economic abuse, destruction of property and/or pets, and social isolation.
PositionAs stewards of the public trust, the Board of Directors (“the Board”) shall be responsible for governance of and ongoing due diligence of the corporation to ensure its health and effectiveness. The Board shall have the power to govern the affairs and property of the corporation in compliance with policies it establishes that define the Board’s scope of limited authority.

DonationWe require a specific amount of “give or get” for all board members.
RequirementsEach member of the board will give/get $10k of unrestricted funds annually from the following gift categories in section 7: 1,3,4 (*please note, event sponsorships or registrations are not counted, with the exception of the 2021 transition year.) A portion of each gift is expected to be a personal gift. Examples of acceptable gifts: Any appeal (holiday, independence day, etc.) Big Give donation Straight cash donation Exceptions to be approved by the executive committee, at their discretion Personal service that provides a substantial benefit to the agency Personal circumstances of a board member
On-boardingEach new board member will have the contact information for a specific board member to be their mentor.  They will meet before and after board meetings to make sure there are no questions. This will last for about 6 months until the new board member because more comfortable.
Additional InfoThis position is to support SafeNest's mission which is to End the epidemic of Domestic Violence. They must also be able to attend at least 4 board meetings annually.
