Childcare Volunteers are needed throughout the year. Opportunities include providing structured play activities, field trips, story time and arts and crafts.

Senior Companion volunteers provide basic social support to seniors in Northern Nevada. Activities include friendly visits, grocery shopping, transportation to doctor’s appointments, etc. Volunteers under 200% of DHHS guidelines may qualify for a modest stipend and mileage reimbursement.

Foster Grandparent volunteers are placed in schools throughout Northern Nevada. These volunteers help children meet academic and social goals through mentoring and tutoring. Volunteers with incomes under 200% of DHHS poverty guidelines may qualify to receive a modest stipend and mileage reimbursement.

Help with gardening and planting projects around the conference center.

Help with plumbing, carpentry, electrical and painting projects.

Tracking the chemical and physical characteristics of a stream is important. It helps us learn what’s working—and where we can do more. So volunteer as a family, a group or on your own. And get ready to wade in the water, use scientific techniques and have some fun.

Learn to differentiate imposters from their native look-a-likes. Visit up to 10 sites, including on-going eradication projects and sites ready for investigation. Participate in hands-on, group eradication of specific infestations under the leadership of a trained botanist. Learn identification and removal techniques as well as critical disposal methods.

Volunteers must be 18 or older to handle dogs. Volunteer training orientation is required for all of our dog walkers.
