Provide emotional and practical support to those who are victims of traumatic events
High school volunteers, under the supervision of Respite Supervisors, care for, comfort, nurture, and engage with the children while parents receive a “break” from their care giving responsibilities.
Volunteers provide regular breaks to exhausted and stressed caregivers who are overwhelmed by their selfless 24/7 care. Volunteers provide breaks of 2 to 4 hours or more per week – which are lifesaving for the caregivers and help to reduce the chance of premature institutionalization of the loved one being cared for.
Volunteers can serve through a variety of non-profit social service or governmental agencies and non-profit service organizations and institutions which are designated as Volunteer Stations. The stations include schools, libraries, day-care centers, hospitals, nursing homes, senior centers, local and state government and other community service organizations.
Volunteers help with the Exercise Program which provides seniors with the proper exercise to help improve their balance, strength, and help prevent falls and disabling diseases that often lead to premature institutionalization.
Pet Network Humane Society operates the Pet Network Thrift Store in Incline Village. Members of the community can donate and shop for gently used clothing, furniture, décor, and more at the shop. The Guest House is managed by a volunteer board of directors and also has many committees populated by volunteers, e.g. finance, marketing, governance and special events. Serving on a committee is a great way to find out more about the organization and possibly serving on the board in the future.
We need someone who loves to garden and create learning areas in our garden for children such as composting, a bee and butterfly flower bed and all sort of fun learning opportunities. We need someone (or two folks) all summer long and you can create your own schedule.
Volunteer activities range from running our front desk for processing and qualifying new clients, to envelope stuffing, clerical tasks and warehouse management.
Family Room hosts will provide a welcoming face to families using the room. Duties will include checking families in, giving tours of the room, performing simple administrative tasks, light housekeeping and keeping the kitchenette stocked. The Ronald McDonald Family Room® is open 9:00am-9:00pm, with three, 4 hour shifts per day.
