Summerlin North Little League
Ways to help | ScorekeeperEach team in the Seniors, Juniors, Intermediate (50/70), Majors, and Minors divisions in baseball and softball need at least one volunteer scorekeeper. The scorekeeper keeps the team's scorebook (the league encourages the use of electronic scoring applications), and, under the manager's direction, post the scores and pitch counts after each game.Team ParentMost teams have a volunteer who is known as the team parent. The role of the team parent is defined largely by the manager's needs and wishes, but team parents often help the managers organize team activities, handle logistical issues like uniforms and scheduling, and make the whole team experience more fun. The manager decides whether or not he wants a volunteer for this position and makes the appointment.Coaches & ManagersBeing a manager or coach requires time, patience, and basic knowledge of the game of baseball. You may be required to attend meetings, instructional sessions or seminars. You will communicate with the parents/guardians of your players to inform them of any schedule changes, rainouts and Little League events and activities. As a manager or coach, you have more interaction with young people than anyone else in Little League. Therefore, it is important that you understand the goals and virtues of the Little League program in order to effectively communicate them to your players.Snack ShackIn the past Summerlin North Little League has relied on managers to make sure that shifts at the snack shack were covered. With the advent of our new Dibs system we are putting this in the hands of each family. Being that we are made up entirely of dedicated and hardworking volunteers, we are requiring that each family now sign up to work a few hours in the snack shack during the season. Once the schedule has been released, each family MUST login to our Dibs system and sign up for a specified number of volunteer hours. |

How you help | No experience is required to become a volunteer. Most of the volunteer opportunities require little or no training. Summerlin North Little League will provide you with any necessary training (as well as support and encouragement), as they deem necessary. The best volunteers are those who are able to bring added enjoyment to the game simply by being themselves. What you see during Little League games is a mere fraction of what you can do as a volunteer. You can volunteer to help in virtually any aspect of Little League Baseball or Softball. |

About us | Little League started in Summerlin, a 22,500-acre master-planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, in 1994 with the formation of the Summerlin Little League. By 2006, Little League baseball had become such a hit in Summerlin that its burgeoning Little League had to be divided. During the 2006 season, the league was formed into two divisions, Summerlin North and Summerlin South. In Spring 2007, the league was formally divided and the parent league was renamed Summerlin North Little League and the new Summerlin South Little League was born. |
