Ways to help

Transport Volunteer

Pet Network Humane Society helps reduce shelter crowding by transferring animals from other shelters to our facility, primarily from other shelters and rescues in Nevada. Transport volunteers assist by helping move animals from other facilities to ours. Transport volunteers need to have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record to participate. Transport volunteers drive a Pet Network vehicle to pick up and move animals back to our facility. This role can also include moving animals to and from off-site adoption sites or other events!

Photography Volunteer

A picture is worth a 1000 words. Photos are very important in the adoption of animals from a shelter. A great photograph of a dog or cat can help that animal find a loving home. Adopters do not want to see a picture of an animal in a cage or a kennel, they want to see a snapshot of what their future pet will look like on a run, a hike or frolicking on the beach. Adopters want to see smiling, tail wagging, happy dogs and cuddling, purring cats.

Foster Care

Foster parents fulfill a critical component of Pet Network’s life-saving work. Anyone with the compassion and willingness to help animals-in-need can serve as a foster parent. Foster terms can range from a few days or weeks to a month or more, depending on the preferences of the foster parent and the needs of the animal. Foster homes are most needed for: animals who are sick, animals that have had a very long length of stay, animals who need socialization, moms with nursing kittens or puppies, orphaned kittens and puppies, and animals too young for spay/neuter.

Pet Network Thrift Store Volunteer

The Pet Network Thrift Store is a high-end, second hand store in Incline Village just a mile away from the Pet Network Humane Society. We have everything from clothing, including designer brands, to housewares, handbags, artwork and jewelry. You never know what kind of treasures you'll find here! Better yet, all proceeds from the thrift store benefit the animals at Pet Network! Positions include sales/cashier and sorting donations.

Administrative Volunteer

Administrative volunteers can help with a variety of tasks throughout the year. We need help with sending out mailers, filing, data entry, making phone calls and event help. We also have PR opportunities available on radio or TV interviews for those who are talented public speakers and passionate about animals. We send out emails to interested volunteers several times a year when the need arises, so please let us know if you are interested.

Relaxation Time Volunteer

Shelter Volunteers encompass many roles within the Pet Network Humane Society that support the wellbeing of our animals. Roles that fall under this umbrella include Animal Care Support and Enrichment Volunteers. Animal Care Support Volunteers help maintain our animals' physical environment and support the general upkeep of our shelter. Enrichment Volunteers work with animals directly and provide care and support that "enriches" the animal. This can include playtime, socialization, training, or just relaxing and reading a book to an animal!

Events Volunteer

We host several events throughout the year at Pet Network and at various offsite locations. Events range from adoption and community events to fundraising events. It takes a dedicated team of people to pull off a successful event, and you’re help is greatly appreciated. Skills needed for these events are customer service, marketing, planning, designing and media relations just to name a few. The Volunteer Coordinator sends regular emails out to active volunteers to notify them of upcoming events and opportunities available.

Professional Services Volunteer

Pet Network does not receive any government funding and relies on the income from our internal businesses and ongoing fundraising efforts to reach our yearly, monthly and even daily financial goals. Professional services are often expensive, but necessary for any business to thrive. If you would like to donate your professional services in any capacity, we can use the money saved to further our mission of rescuing animals from euthanasia and ending the cycle of over population.

About us Pet Network Humane Society is a nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through rescue, adoption and humane education programs. Pet Network Humane Society envisions a world in which all companion animals experience love and respect as treasured members of families and communities. Our organization values animal protection, compassion, community collaboration, servant leadership, humane practices education, sustainability, and innovation. Pet Network was founded in 1991 by a group of volunteers who brought cats and dogs from the Tahoe Vista Shelter into their homes and cleaned, groomed, and fed them until they were restored to health and ready for adoption. In 2000 our first brick and mortar shelter was built. We have grown from a small grassroots project, operating out of homes, to a private non-profit 501(c) (3) organization located in our 15,300 square foot facility. The Pet Network Humane Society is a community center offering programs designed to promote compassion and respect for pets and their families. We are committed to providing exemplary service to our community and encouraging the creation and growth of programs, services, and partnerships. We are proud of the services we provide to Incline Village and the surrounding area as we diligently work to improve the lives of pets in our community.
