Douglas County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue
Ways to help | Search & Rescue Team MemberVery simply, our team is charged with finding lost or injured people, and if necessary, rescuing them. Being part of the team requires each member to train on a regular basis, so they may learn and so their skills remain sharp. The skills we offer to the community are specific – no other emergency service in the county trains for the types of situations that we do. Members receive a lot of highly specialized training, and the opportunity to help the community in a unique way. |

How you help | Our members come from many walks of life, but our common goal is to help people in need. We do this entirely as volunteers…there is no pay involved. We have a great group of individuals in our team, and we need members who are will to work with us to make the team better. |

About us | Douglas County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue is non-profit group made up of professionally trained volunteers that work under the auspices of the Douglas County Sheriff’s department. Every year, local citizens and visitors from around the world enjoy the backcountry of Douglas County, which includes Lake Tahoe, the Carson River and Pinenut Mountain Range. The interaction of people, challenging wilderness terrain and frequent adverse weather, predictÂably creates the need for search and rescue services. DCSAR is also an important adjunct to law enforcement and fire agencies during times of natural or man-made disasters. |
