Carson City Senior Center Reopening
Carson City Senior Center to reopen Monday, May 3; volunteers needed
The Carson City Senior Center, located at 911 Beverly Drive, will reopen on Monday, May 3 with regular hours of operation, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dining will return to dine-in and the drive thru will end on Friday, April 30. However, if clients are not comfortable dining in, they can come inside, check-in and pickup their lunch to-go.
For the time being, tables are limited to four people per table and beverages will include coffee, milk and water. Tables will be set six feet apart to allow for social distancing.
Masks are still required, along with social distancing, including while waiting in line.
Volunteers are needed in the dining room as well as for a variety of activities. If you are interested in volunteering, please call (775) 883-0703 and ask to speak with Brooke.
The computer lab will remain closed until the end of the month while FEMA staff is moving to a new location.

Douglas Community and Senior Center to open May 10
Meanwhile, the Douglas County Community and Senior Center located at 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville will fully open the Senior Center doors to all seniors and the public on May 10, according to a news release.
The Senior Center will open with safety precautions in place to help keep residents and guests healthy and safe and in a clean environment. The reopening plan requires:
1) Temperature checks when entering the building
2) Mask wearing when entering the building and while in public spaces unless actively exercising, eating, or drinking
3) Senior participants are encouraged to be vaccinated, however being vaccinated is not required.
Senior Center Programs & Services
In-person congregate dining will resume Monday, May 10, 2021 at the following locations:
Gardnerville: senior lunches will take place Monday through Friday 12 noon to 1 P.M. in the Grandview Dining Room at the Community & Senior Center
Topaz Ranch Estates: congregate dining at the TRE Community Center in south county will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 12 noon to 1 P.M.
Indian Hills GID Boardroom/Center: will open for lunches in north county on Wednesdays and Fridays, 12 noon to 1 P.M.
Other re-opening news includes:
— All class and meeting rooms will operate at up to 100% of occupancy
— Programming such as senior ceramics, senior bingo, and senior exercise and several more, will be restored on May 10, 2021
The Community Services Department will continue additional sanitation protocols and cleaning measures. The staff is eagerly preparing for the much-awaited reopening of the Douglas County Senior Center and thoroughly excited to welcome back all the Douglas County seniors, families and guests into the facilities.
