Event AssistanceWe require staff to assist with events as needed. Events may happen during business hours, in evenings, or on weekends. Duties may include: Assist in education of guests about Heaven Can Wait and their programs/opportunities; Check-in of attendees; Ticket / product sales; Set-up and tear-down of booth and promo materials; Distributing hand-outs, flyers, or gift bags; Assisting with Pups on Parole adoptable dogs. Passion for our mission and communication skills are essential. Animal handling skills are a plus for Pups on Parole assistance.Spay & Neuter Clinic - Clinic AttendantWe need volunteers to assist in treatment between the hours of 9am-3pm, Monday-Thursday. Duties may include: Assist customer service staff with patient check-in and check-out; Set up for and assist with patient recovery post-anesthesiaCleaning/moving kennels and traps; Cleaning and sterilization of surgical packs and other equipment; Set up and clean examination rooms, surgical prep room, and other clinic areas. Requirements include; 18+; Dependable attendance; Any allergies to animals must be controlled through medication; Close attention to detail and thoroughness is vital; Some duties may require the ability to lift up to 40lbs, walk, squat, bend, stand, reach, and lift constantly; Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.Spay & Neuter Clinic - ReceptionWe need volunteers to assist at reception between the hours of 7am-11am, and 1pm-5pm, Monday-Thursday. Duties may include: Engaging client in a courteous and helpful manner; Answering client questions in-person and over the phone; Ensuring correct check-in and check-out procedures are followed; Cleaning/organization of the clinic; Coordinating appointments; Relaying general knowledge of Heaven Can Wait’s goals and programs; Explaining paperwork, consent forms, and discharge and aftercare instructions to clients; Relaying information to clients from Veterinary staff. Spanish speaking is a plus. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their shifts. |

| How you help | As with most non-profits, we rely on the help and generosity of volunteers to maintain our operations and achieve our goals. We need those willing to help with many tasks including, but not limited to client education along with check-ins and outs in reception; help with animal recovery, and clinic sterilization at the spay and neuter clinic; and attending some wonderful events with the goal of educating the public and making friends. Your support is needed more than ever as our goal is to serve and help save 1,000 dogs and cats a month! |

| About us | Heaven Can Wait Animal Society, an animal welfare organization, was formed in 2000 by a group of animal lovers with the idea of building a beautiful 20-acre sanctuary to home all of the unwanted animals in our community. After doing their research on how best to support animal welfare, HCW found that animals were being euthanized at an alarmingly high rate in local shelters. It was then that efforts to save animals were refocused away from rescue and toward promoting spay/neuter as the solution to the tragic pet overpopulation problem. HCW is now a leader in the city for high-volume, high-quality, low-cost spay and neuter services for companion animals and community cats. They are a much-needed resource for those who aren't able to afford sterilization services at regular veterinary prices, and for cats without homes to receive medical care that never would have happened without trap-neuter-vaccinate-return programs. |
