Hi, this is Matt Webber.
I’m the Adopt-A-Spot Coordinator for Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB).
I’d like to give you a quick overview of our clean-up program and ways you can be more active in our community.
KTMB has been setting up clean-up events at parks, trails, sections of the river, open spaces, business corridors, and neighborhoods in the Truckee Meadows since 1994. This program is intended to provide residents and/or groups with a means to help keep the region a wonderful place to live, work, and play for all.
It is a volunteer-driven program. We often have school groups, businesses and clubs calling us to do clean-ups because they care about keeping their community clean and safe. These clean-ups have a very tangible, beautiful result and also create a sense of unity, friendship, and camaraderie among the people participating. One of the best aspects of doing a clean-up is that participants of all ages are welcome to join in: no one is too old or too young to help. Families often find that involving kids in a clean-up is a great way to teach children the importance of community and working together.
You, or your group, can organize a FREE clean-up and KTMB will provide trash pickers, trash bags, and tools for your cleanup. All you have to do is provide the enthusiastic volunteers!
