It sounds like you would be a fantastic fit for our program based on what you shared. We are always in need of great mentors and have Little Sisters on our waitlist that could be a great Match for you. The first step in our enrollment process is a one on one interview via Zoom. Here is a little more about our program, as well : • A Big and Little meet about once a week, for at least one year • The relationship focuses on mentoring as a friendship, not counseling, tutoring or parenting • Having fun is important to positive impacts for the Little (and the Big) Community-Based mentoring program: Bigs 21 or older meet in-person after school or weekends. This is a great fit for young professionals and empty nesters. Hikes, museums, playing catch, or enjoying an ice cream are popular activities in this program. While weekly meetings are encouraged in this program, Bigs are required to meet in person twice a month and stay in contact the other weeks through phone, video chat, or messaging. If you’re ready to schedule your virtual interview, please email us back with your answers to the questions below (please do not return to the application online): 1. Are you at least 18 years old? 2. Do you have your own vehicle? 3. Have you lived in the Reno/Sparks or Carson area for at least 6 months? 4. Do you plan to live in the Reno/Sparks or Carson area for at least the next 18 months? 5. Can you commit to meeting with a child one-one, once a week (on average) for at least a year? 6. What are a few dates and times during the week that might work for your interview? Please feel free to email me directly at ehopson@bbbsnn.org or call at 775.473.4589. We look forward to Inspiring, Igniting, and Defending Potential of Northern Nevada youth with help from people like you! - Erika Hopson-Lewis, Enrollment Specialist
