2014 Governor’s Points of Light Finalists Announced

RENO/LAS VEGAS, August 1, 2014 — Nevada Volunteers, the Governor’s Commission on Service, is pleased to announce the 18 finalists of the 2014 Governor’s Points of Light Awards, the highest honor bestowed on a volunteer in Nevada. The award is given in 6 categories: Northern Nevada Individual; Southern Nevada Individual; Rural Nevada Individual; Nonprofit and Community Organization Volunteer Program; Corporate Volunteer Program; and Volunteer Manager. Finalists will be in attendance at the Governor’s Points of Light Award Ceremony on September 18, 2014 at Bally’s Las Vegas where the award recipient for each category will be announced.

The Governor’s Points of Light Award Ceremony honors individuals, community-based organizations and businesses for their contribution to communities through volunteer service. Winners are selected by a panel of leaders in business, government, and nonprofits from across the state for the extent to which their volunteerism exemplifies achievement, need, innovation, mobilization and endurance.
